Cost of living measures the amount of money needed to cover basic expenses including housing, food, taxes, healthcare, and transportation.
How We Calculate
We use Regional Price Parities (RPP) from the Bureau of Economic Analysis and Consumer Price Index (CPI) from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Housing Costs
Rent, mortgages, utilities. Typically 30-40% of expenses.

Medical services, insurance, prescriptions.
